I Specialize in

Fatima Sohail is the Project Manager of Giving Art, a youth and wellness program at ABRAR Trauma and Mental Health, where she also serves as the organization’s Fundraising Developer. Giving Art is a storytelling and self-expression initiative that helps participants tap into their emotional creativity through various forms of art, providing a safe and healing space to process personal experiences. Fatima recently graduated from Brock University with a bachelor's degree in health sciences and is pursuing a path into the medical field. Her deep passion for community wellness stems from her lived experience as an Iraqi immigrant navigating the challenges of displacement, language barriers, and limited access to mental health support. These early struggles shaped her dedication to building inclusive spaces for healing and empowerment. Fatima began her journey with ABRAR as an outreach volunteer, inspired by the organization’s mission to provide trauma-informed, culturally accessible services in multiple languages. Her personal connection to ABRAR’s work led her to take on a leadership role to help others overcome the same barriers she once faced. Outside of ABRAR, Fatima has actively contributed to several community organizations including Mission Services, the SNAP Program, Hamilton Public Library, and initiatives like Sisters Connect and the Flash Forward Incubator. She also self-initiated a patient support volunteer program at Hamilton General Hospital to help individuals overcome language barriers and to enhance compassionate care for vulnerable patients. Fatima continues to use her voice and lived experience to advocate for mental health equity, youth empowerment, and inclusive healthcare—one story, one project, and one community at a time.
